"Being able to run on Coach L's team was the best thing that could have happened to my career. As soon as I started coming to practice I knew he had a reason for every workout that we did and he could explain the science to anyone who questioned what the point of a workout was. In the beginning we all set season goals and at the first meet I had already started breaking them and needed to set new goals. I knew the training was working, but as the year went on I began to break goals that I didn't even know were possible to achieve. "I had been experiencing a plateau in my performance early in middle school. At that time, after a busy track season, I was burned out – mentally and physically. Coach LoJacono’s scientific and caring approach rekindled my joy of running and this was followed by improvement in race times. Coach LoJacono created a different type of training plan for me than I had been doing, based on increasing weekly miles, less speed work, and more emphasis on maximizing recovery. As he started building my mileage, we would cycle easy runs and long runs. Often he would join me for the runs and we would talk about the science of running, past experiences, and future goals. He is friendly, easy to talk to, and approachable. With Coach LoJacono, I was receiving individualized training from an expert specifically in distance running. In fact, he has personalized training programs for all of his athletes and stays up to date on running research (workouts, mileage, nutritional needs, injury prevention). For example, many of my workouts in Coach LoJacono’s training plan were developed after he watched me run and had me do running tests. Then, based on science and formulas and his observations, he designed training plans that seemed to completely match my running needs. Coach LoJacono really understands the sport of distance running. He knows what it takes to excel. Because of his experience as a high-level college distance runner, he can relate to what top runners face and understands well the amount of dedication and effort elite running requires."

"I think its important for coaches to have coaches. It provides accountability. Since I started training with Coach LoJacono and FRC, I have noticed major improvements in my overall performance. I have never been a part of a club or had a formal individualized training plan. FRC has helped me stay motivated and provides a place for me to run with other like-minded runners.
